Jack Meil Dive Site, Utila, Honduras

Jack Meil was one of my favorite dive sites – simply for all the macro life.  Most of it was sandbed, which housed a few seahorses and pipehorses.  The most amazing thing we saw on the dive site was a goldenspotted eel searching for a meal.  It happened upon a mantis shrimp’s home, and the mantis did not take too well to the intrusion.  The mantis was narrowly able to escape.  One of our dive guides captured it all on video…including slow motion.  As soon as he posts it, I will add a link.  Quite amazing!

My maximum depth was 64′, and the bottom temperature was 84 degrees Fahrenheit (mid-August).

Photographs are worth a thousand words, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
